Aim of the project

The aim of the project is to develop a HERB (Hemp Extraction, Refining and Biogasification) biorefinery technological line for converting hemp into chemical compounds with high market value, and to design, construct and commission a biorefinery prototype for experimental verification of its technical and economic parameters. Implementation of the project will
assess the feasibility of using hemp as a raw material for biorefineries, contribute to increasing the profitability of hemp cultivation by increasing the value of harvested products while reducing waste, and enhance the role of the hemp processing industry in the development of a circular economy.

Project leader

Jan Krzysztoforski, PhD
(Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering)

Graduated in chemical and process engineering (Warsaw University of Technology) and economics (Lazarski University), and holds a PhD in the discipline of chemical engineering (Warsaw University of Technology). A young scientist specializing in supercritical fluid technologies, particularly new applications of supercritical fluid extraction, as well as in the development of bioprocesses, in line with the idea of sustainable development and “Green Chemistry.”
